Why it works together
The Emberline's −1°C comfort rating keeps you warm on cold nights. Put the Baseline's R8 underneath and it goes even further, because the cold ground can't pull warmth out from below. The Nimbus sits in the Emberline's pillow pocket, so it's still under your head when you roll over.
1,592g for the whole sleep. Light enough to earn a spot in a pack.
What the mat actually does
The Emberline holds your heat in from above. The Baseline stops cold ground drawing it out from below, so the bag goes even further on frosty nights. Switch between the two to see what the Baseline changes.
On the Baseline R8, the cold stops at the mat and your body heat is turned back towards you.
- The Emberline Core traps rising body heat and turns it back towards you.
- The Nimbus supports your head and stays put in the bag's pillow pocket.
- Three layers of PET film in the Baseline R8 reflect heat back up.
- Cold from the ground is stopped at the mat before it reaches you.
Emberline Core ratings
Limit −5°CComfort −1°CPlan trips around the comfort rating. The limit is closer to what you'd endure than what you'd sleep through.
Baseline R8 insulation
Mat used to rate sleeping bags, R5.38Baseline R8.0R-value is resistance to heat flowing into the ground, tested to ASTM F3340-18. Higher is warmer.
The weak link is usually the mat
Most sleep kits get built one piece at a time. A good bag, then whatever mat was on sale, then a rolled-up jacket for a pillow. It works until the first frosty night, when the cheap mat lets the ground pull the warmth straight out of the expensive bag.
The Sleep System is for anyone buying their first proper kit, or replacing the mismatched one that keeps letting them down.
| Solara Sleep System | Built one piece at a time | |
|---|---|---|
| Sleeping bag | Emberline Core, −1°C comfort | A good bag |
| Mat | Baseline R8, rated to match the bag | Whatever mat was on sale |
| Pillow | Nimbus, held in the bag's pillow pocket | A rolled-up jacket |
| On the first frosty night | Warm from the top and the bottom | The cheap mat lets the ground pull the warmth out of the bag |

- Individually: $645. As a system: $610. You save $35.
A comparable down bag, R8 mat and pillow from the well-known imported brands adds up to roughly $930 to $1,400 in Australia once landed. We sell direct: no distributor margin, no retail markup. Same warmth, same job.
We bring small batches in to keep quality control tight. Emberline restocks take six to eight weeks, and when the count gets low, it's the real number.

Questions, answered
Can I buy the pieces separately?
Yes. The Emberline, Baseline and Nimbus each have their own page. Buying all three together as the Sleep System costs less than buying them one at a time.
Does the bundle builder's 5% off apply?
No. The 5% offer is only for kits built in the bundle builder, and the Sleep System is already priced as a bundle.
What does the warranty cover?
Every piece of the Sleep System comes with a 3-year warranty. If something fails because of how we built it, we fix it or replace it.
How much does the whole system weigh?
1,592g for the bag, mat and pillow together. Light enough to earn a spot in a pack, tough enough to live in a pannier bag.
When will my order ship?
Orders placed before 3pm AEST on weekdays leave our Brisbane warehouse the same day. Australian orders over $150 ship free.
If you have any questions, you are always welcome to contact us. We'll get back to you as soon as possible, within 24 hours on weekdays.
